Day 1
Those of us who arrive at Johannesburg will re connect with the flight to Cape Town.  We will be met at Cape Town International Airport by our personal guide / driver and transferred to Winchester Mansions a stylish four star boutique hotel in the shadow of Table Mountain and overlooking the sea within easy reach of many of the Mother City’s scenic and historic attractions.  The Internationally famous Hop On-Hop Off Topless Red Bus service stops right out side the front door of your hotel.
Helicopter flights over Cape Town
The Hotel has earned a fine reputation for friendly hospitality and outstanding service.  We can spend the rest of the afternoon acclimatising at your leisure and soaking up the atmosphere of this most beautiful of cities before Dinner.  Hang gliders from signal hill land on the lawns in front of the Hotel. Across the lawns you can rest against the Sea Wall and be mesmerised by the power of the waves as they crash against the rocky breakwater, with Table Mountain rising above your hotel in the back ground.  The Hotel offers a complimentary dinner shuttle service to most nearby restaurants in Cape Town, and of course the famous V&A Waterfront form savoury delights and lots of retail therapy.

Day 3
On leaving Cape Town behind, we’ll stay off the beaten track as we take Route 62, the world’s longest wine route, through to Oudtshoorn.  This is a region of magnificent landscapes and towering cliffs, crystal clear streams and an abundance of trees and indigenous flora.  Along the way  we’ll stop for lunch (at own expense) in Barrydale.  In Oudtshoorn we’ll book into the skilfully renovated Queens Hotel where the British Royal Family sojourned on their 1948 tour of the country.  Later we’ll gather in the cosy wood-panelled pub for fortifications before trying the fine traditional South African fare in the renowned Colony Restaurant.

Day 4
Widely acclaimed as one of the most diverse towns to visit in South Africa, Oudtshoorn, known as the ostrich capital of the world, offers an extraordinary blend of heritage and nature, and provides remarkable contrasts.  Today we have a really exciting day ahead of us so after a delicious garden breakfast we’ll head off for the Cango Caves not far from town.  These picturesque limestone caves which began forming 20 million years ago are the largest in Africa and one of the archaeological and historical highlights of the Klein Karoo.  From the caves we’ll make our way to an ostrich farm and spend an extremely interesting hour or so getting acquainted with the world’s largest bird before enjoying a traditional lunch.  Back in our air conditioned bus we continue onto the Cango Wildlife ranch where we enjoy a guided tour seeing Lions, Crocodiles etc with an opportunity to have our photograph taken stroking a Cheetah.
Back at the hotel we’ll have late afternoon tea in the lovely courtyard garden, or a cooling dip in their inviting swimming pool, before freshening up for dinner.

Day 5
Today we’ll leave the Klein Karoo behind and head back over the mountains and descend the

Robinsons Pass to the sun-washed town of Mossel Bay.  This small harbour town, first discovered by Bartholomew Dias back in 1488, boasts a wonderful temperate climate, miles of golden beaches and a rich cultural history.   On our short stop here we discover some of South Africa’s early history at the Vasco da Gama museum where a full size replica of his caravel ship is housed and we’ll also learn the legend behind "The Old Post Office Tree".  After lunch we’ll head east along the soft rolling hills of the Garden Route to Knysna which was voted South Africa’s favourite little town for several years running and famous for its oysters, elusive seahorses and the beautiful Knysna Loerie (Tucan).  Nestled between the majestic Outeniqua Mountains and the warm Indian Ocean and surrounded by protected forests it is easy to see why Knysna is a firm favourite with foreign and local visitors alike.  We’ll get to know some of the local landmarks on a tour of the town before checking into The Graywood Hotel, conveniently situated close to the Waterfront and the centre of town.  The charming hotel is decorated in the spirit of the surrounding forests with beautiful woodwork throughout and lush landscaped gardens where we can meet to catch up on the day’s events over a sun downer before dining at the Blue Goose Restaurant.  Overnight at the Graywood Hotel.  (B, D)

Day 7
The first sight of Plettenberg Bay will never to be forgotten with its backdrop of majestic mountains stretching across the horizon and surrounded by forests and fynbos.  We’ll take a tour of the town before taking to the seas for a two hour whale watching marine safari.  The Bay itself holds an uncommon richness of marine life as this is where the hot and cold currents of the Indian Ocean meet and mix resulting in an unparalleled biodiversity.  The Bay boasts vast schools of playful dolphin as well as resident Orca and Bryde’s whales and the migratory Humpback and Southern Right whales. The qualified and informative guides will ensure that we don’t miss any of the seals, sharks and seabirds that may be around.  After lunch we’ll head on to Monkeyland and the Birds of Eden, two separate sanctuaries in the living forest.  Monkeyland is a world-renowned free-roaming multi-species primate sanctuary where we will see many species of previously caged monkeys, apes and lemurs while the Birds of Eden is the largest free-flight aviary in the world where previously caged birds from every corner of the globe live in free flight.  From here we pass the highest Bungee jump in the world at 216 meters free fall on our way to the magical Tsitsikamma Village Hotel where each free-standing room is individually decorated has its own garden.  There will be plenty for us to talk about this evening over a drink in the cosy Hunters Inn pub before enjoying yet another sumptuous meal in the De Oude Martha Restaurant.  Overnight at the Protea Hotel Tsitsikamma Village.  (B, D)
