Addo Elephant Park
(ref:2001zu)

High up in the mountains with breathtaking views over looking the Addo Elephant Park resides the old "Stage Coach Station" of a bygone era.  Where exhausted horses where switch out with fresh horses to continue the long coach trail north into the heartland of South Africa.   Today the original hotel still stands with its Old World Charm but with modern conveniences and continues to serve guests.  Those interested in a safari vacation by day and the comforts of home cooked meals and a warm log fire in the evening, will find this a most relaxing experiences.  Just like it was in the good old days ....

The Addo Elephants, 80 km north of Port Elizabeth, were once close to extinction but today after a great deal of hard work have fully recovered to claim the position as the second largest wildlife game park in South Africa today.  Famous for its vast herds of Elephant and many other species of wildlife

One of Addo's major attractions is that it is situated in a cooler part of the country and in a  Malaria free area as is most of South Africa.  The world famous Kruger Park is situated in the low lying areas (known as the lowveld) next to the borders of Mozambique.
