Day 1 - Stellenbosch

On arrival at Cape Town airport you collect your vehicle from our airport depot and depart immediately for beautiful wine making region of South Africa.  Stellenbosch is only a mere 30km from the airport and therefore makes it the perfect area to spend you first night.

This is South Africa’s second oldest town, founded in 1679 and named in honour of Simon van der Stel, the early Cape governor, and although the first white settlers grew wheat, they soon turned to the making of wine and, today, vineyards cover the surrounding hillsides.

Accommodation - The wine farm where you will be staying was first settled in 1694.  Several owners gradually tamed the wild fertile valley and in 1901 the first 'Van Niekerk' bought the farm.  Now, four generations later, the Van Niekerk's are producing award winning wines and offer traditional Cape Hospitality at the guest house.  Originally a clay and stone structure housing stables, a blacksmith room and coach house, the guest house offers modern comfort with old-world charm.  Wake up to bird calls and farmyard bustle and let them spoil you with a traditional Cape breakfast.  Relax at the pool sipping crisp white wines whilst looking over the amazing winelands.   Board basis Bed and Breakfast.

Day 2 - Oudtshoorn

Today you head for the drier areas of the “Klein Karoo”  On leaving Stellenbosch, enjoy the unexpected pleasures of 'Route 62', the longest wine route in the world, as you meander your way to Oudtshoorn through the Small Karoo, Winelands and the Breede River Valley.  Oudtshoorn is known as the “Feather capital of South Africa” and is famous for its ostrich farms and guided tours, the magnificent subterranean Cango Caves and is one of the top ten tourist destinations in South Africa.  The Cango Caves Wildlife ranch is well worth a visit and is one of the few successful conservation programmes breeding Bengal Tigers, White Lions and Cheetahs.  Visitors can interact face to face with these animals and play with their cubs (when available).

Accommodation –   The Queen's Hotel is an oasis of colonial elegance, the capital of the beautiful semi-arid Klein Karoo. Finished in 1880, this grand dame of South African hoteliery has been restored to her full original grandeur & beauty and continues to offer sumptuous accommodation, service and dining.

The Queens Hotel so named after the queen of England who once stay here with her parents on their Rotal visit to South African tour in 1948 as guests of General Smuts

Elegant dinning facilities and garden breakfasts near the swimming pool make for a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere.

After a long day of sight seeing guests can cool off in sparkling swimming pool.  Board basis Bed and Breakfast.
