Island of Sainte Marie map - St Marie Madagascar
The tropical island generally enjoys warm sunny weather most of the year with occasional tropical thunder storms. With secluded beaches, soft white sand, warm weather, swaying palms and lush vegetation Sainte Marie has for three centuries remained the perfect example of a pristine tropical island. It’s ideal for honeymoon couples or anybody looking for a romantic get away.

Most accommodation is in small privately owned beach hotels offering between 6 to 25 rooms. Accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable with en suite bathrooms and hot water.

Breakfast is usually continental and dinner has a Malagasy & French touch with sea food featuring most evenings.

In August and September, hump-backed whales migrate here and are a huge attraction as they frolic in the calm seas with there young. Hump back whales are well known for their aerobatics and make for excellent entertainment. A trip across the channel to Iles aux Nattes is a must, offering some of the best beaches and snorkelling on the island.
