Experience a world of diversity in one park: Addo Elephant National Park.

Self-game drives, guided game drives, horse riding, 4 x 4 trails, bird watching and more. The extraordinary bio diversity within the ecologically diverse Addo region provides habitat for an amazing diversity of wildlife. Enjoy a once in a lifetime experience to get up close and personal with these magnificent animals. Touch, feed, walk with and ride the largest land mammal on earth.

There is also the Daniell Cheetah Breeding Project which was established in May 2001 and started with just three cats. It has since grown with breeding, purchase and swapping of animals. Daniell allow visitors to spend time with tame cheetah or with prior booking, the opportunity to walk with the cheetah.

Addo Elephant Park also offers bird watching, it offers a wide variety of bird life, as many as 450 species can be spotted making the area a must for keen bird watchers. Inside the park there is also a large bird hide at the rest camp that overlooks a reed-field wetland.

Don’t forget about the Bedrogfontein 4×4 Eco-Adventure Trail which runs between the Kabouga and Darlington areas of the park. Apart from the magnificent views it is also rich in history dating all the way to the Anglo Boer War.

There are many different types of Accommodation, there is a range from camp sites to Luxury Lodges. Addo Rest Camp, which is the popular main rest camp of the park offers a wide variety of accommodation units to suit all tastes and plenty of activities to keep visitors busy. A unique feature is the waterhole lookout point, floodlit at night, within the camp as well as the underground hide, allowing close encounters with wildlife at the waterhole. Matyholweni, which means “in the bush” in Xhosa is located near the coastal town of Colchester at the Sundays River Mouth, off the N2 highway, Matyholweni is easily accessible and provides a second gateway into the Park. Amenities such as shops, restaurants and a fuel station are available in the nearby town. For those of us who do not like the idea of “roughing it” can stay in one of the Luxury Lodges available, “indulgence” and “comfort” come to mind when viewing the concession lodges and suites that are to be found in a number of SANParks camps and parks. These lodges form part of a suite of products known as SANParks “Golden Kudus”, where luxury is the order of the day.

As always we highly recommend you book for this amazing experience, we would hate for you to be disappointed.

monkey_cameraRemember that when you go to any Game Park, for locals or foreigners, do a little bit of research about if there is malaria in the area. Some places may have a problem with it, it also depends on the time of year you’ll be going there. Prevention is easier than cure when it comes to something like malaria.
